By acquiring this property in 1985, the Richard family, known for their Parisian establishments, made a remarkable entry into the closed microcosm of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Ever since the 1816 Topographie de tous les vignobles connus, (topography of all the known vineyards) the potential of this vineyard has been well known. André Jullien placed it at the top of his classification of Rhône Valley wines, extolling the virtues of its terroir.
