They are arriving on the market. The magnificent vintage is here, to the great pride of the bordelais and the intense pleasure of wine lovers
Understanding a vineyard, whichever it is, implies a necessary follow-up of the vintages. This is obviously the case for Bordeaux, whose production we scrutinise from one year to the next, during two important commercial events, the en primeur campaign and the release of the latest vintage in bottle. This mission, which is our responsibility and that delights us every year, we did not miss the opportunity, in January of this year, to go there to fulfil it with the rigour and seriousness of the challenge. This was the fortieth vintage of our chief taster, Michel Bettane, and according to him, this 2018 was a gift.
“For me, the great emotion of the Left Bank is this 2018 Durfort Vivens, unforgettable for its delicacy, its elegance and its personality. It is a sort of acme of what we are capable of producing on this terroir, formal perfection in the register of tenderness, of great bewitching perfume and of the unique Margaux style, all in nuances and aromatic subtlety, marking by its touch of mouth and its so fine grain linked to a masterful vinification in amphora. There is a severe lack of words to describe it. This work of art by Gonzague Lurton is an emotion that few people will be able to experience, as the harvest is tiny, but it is a wine that can leave a lasting mark on the history of Bordeaux wines. “.
