It is essential to revisit some misunderstood or misappropriated concepts. The important thing is to know what we are talking about.

There is no need to recall the extent of fantasies about the concept of terroir, starting with the word itself. The name was undoubtedly forged on the same ideological basis as the verb “terroiter”, which was not formalised in the old dictionaries, with a rather pejorative meaning, which defined a rustic wine, without finesse, a bit like the verb “tracer” in Champagne today. In short, a wine incapable of learning and taking on the “politeness” created by blending, which is an action of human know-how. Obviously, in terroir, there was the word “terre”
