Château Brane-Cantenac

Domaine.

The wine owes its class and character to the heart of the Cantenac plateau and its deep siliceous and clay gravel. Under the direction of Henri Lurton, it asserts with a rare regularity a suppleness and aromatic finesse of its own, which makes it sought after by wine lovers who expect a fine Margaux. In the latest vintages, it seems to have taken another step forward in the precision of the terroir’s expression. The second wine, baron-de-brane, shares the same aesthetic with a suppleness of tannin that should appeal to many restaurateurs and wine lovers.

  • AOP Margaux, Château Brane-Cantenac 2006. Fine, tactile tannin, but the wine lacks the intensity one expects from a fine Second. 90/100
  • AOP Margaux, Château Brane-Cantenac 2010. Good Cabernet on the nose, intense, tight, full, perfectly integrated tannin, great scope for the cru and obviously still far from its peak. 96/100
  • AOP Margaux, Château Brane-Cantenac 2016. Delicately peppery on the nose, aristocratic texture, fine tannin, discreet yet very “centered”, full of promise. It will not disappoint. 97/100
