Château Climens
Domaine. [to find out more about the wines highlighted in blue, click and view a short reel]
The cru has not been lucky in recent vintages, forced to produce very low yields. Fortunately, the previous great years are available at the property and offer all the magic of a terroir that can sometimes surpass Yquem in finesse and aromatic subtlety, thanks to its limestone subsoil. We would like the estate to study the elaboration of a great dry wine in perfect harmony with it. The second Cyprès wine is often the most complete in its category and shows, for a reasonable price, almost all the fullness and nobility of the great wine.
- AOP Bordeaux, Asphodèle 2019. 93/100
- AOP Barsac, Château Climens 2015
Great race on the nose, with all the panoply of great botrytis fruit (citrus, acacia, mango, apricot, and limestone minerality), wonderful finesse, brilliance and a bright future. 97/100
- AOP Barsac, Château Climens 2005
Great race immediately perceptible on the nose, very rich in liquor, very young, in a style of almost extravagant opulence for the cru. Should age very slowly. 99/100
