Château Kirwan
Domaine. [to know more about the wines highlighted in blue, click and watch a short reel]
In the Schÿler family since 1904, an important player in the Bordeaux wine trade, this 37-hectare property is located on the Cantenac plateau, south of the Margaux appellation, with part of the vineyard located further west, on more clayey soils. The magnificent new vat room is well worth a visit and the estate’s commitment to wine tourism makes it particularly attractive. The wines have gained in immediate purity of expression and integration of wood and should age well, in a typically Margaux spirit.
- Château Kirwan. 2020. AOP Margaux. 92/100
- Château Kirwan. 2019. AOP Margaux. Dense colour, nice nose with hints of liquorice and black fruit, tasty and fleshy, but with less finesse than some of its neighbours, at least for the moment. Good value for money for ageing. 92/100
- Château Kirwan. 2016. AOP Margaux. The wine has closed up after bottling and even after aeration has difficulty showing its true face. Except in terms of body, with the fullness of a great vintage. Let’s wait for the rest of the aging process. 93/100
