Château La Coste

Domaine. Owned by Irishman Patrick McKillen, the estate is an amphitheatre of 200 hectares, 125 of which are given over to winegrowing, and face north towards the Luberon valley. Guillaume Vidal manages the vineyards and shares the winemaking side with Firmin Gimenez, the cellar master. Since their arrival three years ago, the duo have accelerated the development of agro-ecology by introducing viti-pastoralism and horse work on certain plots. In addition to the organic certification obtained in 2008, the biodynamic (Demeter) certification will come into effect in 2022. A mosaic of terroirs, exposures and altitudes, the hillsides are also an asset. The lower slopes, with their deep soils, produce wines that are delicious (La Coste range), acidic, fresh and fruity, with a long finish. These are gourmet wines that carry the DNA of their fine terroir. In addition, there are five restaurants, including the Michelin-starred Hélène Darroze. B+D
