Henschke

Domaine. Located in Keyneton, South Australia, in the Eden Valley wine region, this family-owned winery has a history that dates back to 1862 when Johann Christian Henschke who arrived in Australia in 1841 from his native Silesia, purchased land in the region and planted a small vineyard. The first recorded sales of Henschke wines, from Riesling and Shiraz grapes, were in 1868. Today, the family name and reputation as one of Australia’s leading wine producers, are being upheld by the 5th generation, Stephen Henschke, biochemist and winemaker, and his wife Prue, viticulturist. Prue Henschke manages the 105 hectares of vineyard, spanning from Eden Valley to Lenswood in the Adelaide Hills wine region. Among a host of exceptional estate cuvées, the highly sought-after Hill of Grace and Mount Edelstone that has a large following, are arguably the two oldest single-vineyard wines produced in Australia.
