Domaine.

Having studied oenology at University of California, Davis, Paul Hobbs was appointed a member of the inaugural Opus One winemaking team in 1979. In 1991, Paul set out to go it alone with the dedication to produce wines with minimal intervention and meticulous care that reflect their terroirs. His first vintage was made from purchased fruit in Carneros and in Sonoma. Over the next 30 years, Paul continued to expand, purchasing more fruit from further afield, including three of Napa’s most famous vineyards owned by Andy Beckstoffer – To Kalon, Las Piedras and Dr. Crane – which produce Paul Hobbs top Cabernet bottlings that can stand toe to toe with the finest wines in the world. In 1998, he bought what is now called the Katherine Lindsay estate (named after his great-grandmother) in Sebastopol, California. This 13.3-acre (5.4ha) vineyard produces some of Paul Hobbs’ top Pinot Noir and is also home to his winery. Today, Paul Hobbs is owner and vintner for seven wineries around the world: Paul Hobbs and Crossbarn (Sebastopol, California), Hillick & Hobbs (Finger Lakes, New York), Viña Cobos (Mendoza, Argentina), Crocus (Cahors, France), Yacoubian-Hobbs (Vayots Dzor, Armenia), and Alvaredos-Hobbs (Galicia, Spain).
