FOR MORE THAN HALF A CENTURY, GLOBAL VITICULTURE has relied on the massive use of fertilisers and plant protection products. As in other agricultural sectors, awareness of the need for a change of model, initiated in the 1990s by courageous visionary pioneers, is gradually becoming widespread and is finally beginning to accelerate. However, the soils and subsoils of most vineyards have been exhausted by decades of chemical use, and need to be regenerated.
