In a very “rosé” setting, it is the whole of Provence that is prey to doubt. On the trail of the rise in quality, we came across five estates and discovered a reality that we did not suspect.

Provence and its languor. The gentle way of life in the land of olive trees, vines and lavender. The freshness of the mas and bastides, the arbours, the hills. The worldwide attraction for Provence, its art of living. Its rosé and its success. The image is there, it is beautiful, it sparkles in everyone’s imagination. We believe in it, we want it. The world rushes in, glass in hand, eye lit. The sun is high, the wine is fresh. First of all, yes, rosé is a wine. A technical wine, it requires know-how that has no relation to the other colours of wine. In the vineyard as in the cellar. And, on every terrace, by every swimming pool, at the table, alone or with friends, rosé is there, sure of its magical power. It is conquering the markets, prices are rising, the future is smiling. A small number of large operators have carried the success of rosé wine far and wide and prices are soaring. The smaller players are happy about this, they are benefiting greatly from the upturn, while at the same time they see the problem as it is.
