Jean-Valmy Nicolas and his cousins Henri and Bertrand are at the helm of Château La Conseillante, an icon of the Pomerol plateau, a family property for a century and a half. No recipe for transmitting, but personal convictions. This is what he tells us.

“This is due to the dedication and sometimes irrational efforts of five generations who have succeeded in keeping La Conseillante within the family. The family has this rule: no one should live on the back of the property. Everyone must have a job of their own, including the managers. Obviously, for a very long time, one could not make a living from wine. At times, this rule has certainly avoided having to sell the property. Today, it requires managers to have an open-mindedness acquired through their other experiences, a certain distance, and to exercise good judgment.
