Mondovino regularly raves about the stratospheric prices achieved by certain transactions involving great Médoc estates. The most recent deal is certainly cause for wonder. More than 300 million euros for the purchase of a majority stake in Château Lascombes, a second-growth Margaux classified growth covering 120 hectares of vines. American billionaire Gaylon Lawrence now owns 65% of this Médoc star, which he shares with the mutual health insurance company MACSF.
