WHEN IT’S TIME TO ASSESS the quality of the 2022 vintage, one word will forever define it: resilience. Despite historically low rainfall and after three heat waves, the wines are brilliant, distinctive and fresh, far from the sweet, candied, alcoholic, evolved archetypes we might have expected from this kind of year. The symbolic dimension of this vintage is enormous and marks a new era. As was 1982.
