In the 1990s, Parker’s influence changed the style of Médoc wines. He tended to prefer sunny wines. The Médoc has always tried to make a wine with tension, looking for the right ripeness, which didn’t always come. In the 1980s, the wines were less powerful. There were also higher yields. The trend has been to reduce production while taking advantage of global warming, which allows Cabernet Sauvignon to ripen more.
This grape variety now plays the leading role. Is it something new?
It’s a return to its origins.
