To write this saga, Françoise Parguel met the people who have shaped the Provence of today and the success of the colour. With the vista of visionaries, the audacity of pioneers and the passion of winegrowers, rosé has written its own legend.
Who is behind this saga?
Let’s not forget that the vineyards of Provence are the oldest in France. It has always produced all three colours. In the early days, rosé was consumed by the locals and not all producers made it or marketed it. As a rule, the family estates were large farms with mixed farming, animals and a few vines. The heirs, who were lawyers, notaries or doctors, did not live on site and had sharecroppers. Gradually, some of them began to develop their vineyards. The pioneers of rosé were the Ott family, who were the first to export to the United States, and the Fernet-Matton family in Minuty.
